 Marilyn Fowler: On March 6, 2016, Marilyn Fowler was the recipient of ICWIN Life Time Achievement Award for dedicating her life to Organizing, Advocating and Generating Ideas. 

Marilyn Fowler is Founder and President of the Women's Intercultural Network (WIN). Besides being a caring mother and upstanding member of the community, she is best known as:

  • Organizer: Community organizing and building network across the globe is her innate strength.
  • Advocate: Marilyn began in the League, insuring all women had equal access to birth control, especially marginalized women. 
  • Generator of Ideas: As an architect for implementing the Beijing Platform for Action (BPFA) through CAWA and USWC, Marilyn designed infrastructure for the Platform concept of organizing internet progressive "networks that organize, not organizations that network."

 

 


Solmaz Sharif: On August 27, 2016, Solmaz Sharif the young Iranian-American poet was the recipient of WIN Circle of Courage Award for her bold and brilliant work of poetry.  

Solmaz Sharif holds degrees from U.C. Berkeley, where she studied and taught with June Jordan’s Poetry for the People, and New York University. Her work has appeared in many publications and has been recognized with  a “Discovery”/Boston Review Poetry Prize, scholarships from the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, a fellowship at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, an NEA fellowship, and a Stegner Fellowship. She was also selected to receive a 2014 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writer’s Award as well as a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship. She is currently a lecturer at Stanford University. 

Her first poetry collection, LOOK, published by Graywolf Press in 2016, was a finalist for the National Book Award for poetry.
